A Chiefland woman was cited for careless driving and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage after a rear-ender shortly after midnight on Sunday on State Road 26 and County Road 307 in Gilchrist County.
Two people were also injured in the accident, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
A 1992 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Tiffany M. Crouch, 22, of Chiefland, was behind a 1992 Chevy C-1500 pickup being driven by Timothy C. Anderson, 20, of Bell. Both were headed east on SR 26 when Anderson slowed to make a left turn from SR 26 onto CR 307 and Crouch's vehicle hit the rear of Anderson's vehicle causing it to turn in a counterclockwise direction until it came to a stop facing west in the westbound lane of SR 26.
Crouch's passenger, Tiffany A. Smith, 21, also of Chiefland suffered serious injury and was taken to North Florida Regional Medical Center.
Anderson's passenger, Amber M. Conrad, 18, of Alachua, had minor injury and was treated at NFRMC as well.
Anderson was not injured and Crouch had minor injury but was not taken to a hospital.
FHP Trooper Glen Ganus wrote in the report that Crouch was suspected of ingesting alcohol and a field sobriety test was conducted and it was determined she was not driving under the influence. She was cited for careless driving and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in her vehicle.
All involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
