Wilbur Dean candidate for Levy Clerk of Court

Citing a number of opportunities for improvement, Wilbur Dean announces his candidacy for election to the office of Clerk of the Circuit Court for Levy County.  As provided by the Florida Constitution this office is responsible for circuit and county court cases, the official records and assisting the board of County Commissioners by accounting for county finances which includes budget preparation, paying the bills and writing the paychecks for all department employees under the Board.
“I believe that I have the leadership ability and work ethic necessary to perform these duties and provide positive improvements that the people of Levy County deserve,” Dean said.Noting the rapid growth of court cases and the demands of costly judicial time and space, Dean maintains that he will be proactive in seeing that cases travel through the system in the most efficient manner to alleviate costs.“The preservation of all public records in a manner which allows public access is a top priority,” Dean says.  “I will bring official records current and maintain all records as required by law and provide means for access by the public.”In a strong statement Dean declares that accounting for the commission’s finances calls for a cooperative effort between the Clerk and the Board of Commissioners.  “Having served 8 years as a County Commissioner I am well aware of this point and I will work diligently with the Board in a cooperative effort,” Dean states.The Clerk’s office is funded in part by the state, fees and advalorem taxes.  “I will be innovative in acquiring grant funds, constant in controlling expenditures and untiring in my efforts to make this the most effective and efficiently cooperated Clerk’s office possible.Dean has served on the Levy County Soil and Water Board since 2003.  In 2007-2008 he was elected President of the Florida Association of Conservation Districts and has represented Florida on the National Association of Conservation Districts Board of Directors since 2006.Dean has served on numerous other public service functions and non-profit organizations for the betterment of Levy County.  He is an active member and Deacon at First Baptist Church in Bronson.  Dean is married to Candy Dean, his wife of 26 years.  They have two children, Levi and Morgan.
