What will we do with the building?

The octagon-shaped building near the Chiefland Fire Rescue Station should be preserved, Mayor M. Teal Pomeroy said Oct. 22, because of its historical significance.

Commissioner Sammy Cason said he registered to vote there in 1959 with Luther Callaway, whose title was "an inspector" related to elections, according to records. Back then, the building was located in the center of the city park near the place where the Building and Zoning Building is today, Cason said.

The building once housed the Chiefland Area Athletic Association, according to a press release from the city.
