The Levy County Veterans Day parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m., in Chiefland.
The parade will begin at the Chiefland High School, then proceed south down U.S. Highway 19/Main Street to the Chiefland Train Depot and Trailhead Park.
The Veterans Day Parade is being supported by the towns and cities in Levy County, the Board of County Commissioners and veterans organizations.
Everyone is invited to participate by entering a float honoring our veterans. Float registration forms are available at Chiefland Police Department, 493-6777, or the Chiefland Chamber of Commerce, 493-1849.
Immediately following the parade, a ceremony honoring veterans will take place at the park. The program will include the singing of the National Anthem, the raising of the American flag, a 10-gun salute, the playing of taps, several speakers, patriotic music and a rendition of “The Last Patrol.”
Parade organizers, consisting of veterans from all branches of the military, will provide free hot dogs, chips and drinks to the crowd immediately following the program. The food has been donated by local merchants.
If you have any questions, please call Chiefland City Commissioner Teresa Barron at 493-4996 or Chief Robert Douglas at 493-6777.
