This is one of the hardest letters I have ever had to write. My time spent working for the veterans of Gilchrist County has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.
While it has been one of a feeling of great accomplishment it also is one of sorrow in departing such a great community.
As of Thursday, Feb. 3, I will be moving on to serve the veterans of Alachua County.
I have been fortunate to meet and make lifetime professional and personal friendships here. I cannot properly express my feelings of gratitude for the overwhelming support for our veterans. The most outstanding item that I can identify is the manner in which the Gilchrist County citizens love and support those who have served their country through military service.
The local newspapers have been most supportive of any and all events and endeavors related to veterans. The Board of County Commissioners have supported me in every way possible. The school board has seen that our children are being educated on our rich military history and have worked with me on numerous occasions.
