n Rep. Nugent extends combat badge qualification
U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent (R-District 5), sponsored an amendment that has been adopted as part of the FY2012 Defense Authorization bill that retroactively extends the qualification to obtain the Combat Action Badge, .
“Since 2001, members of our armed forces who have served in combat have been eligible for the Combat Action Badge medal. My amendment corrects a long-standing oversight by making that medal retroactively available to Army combat veterans who served prior to 2001," Nugent said.
“As the veterans themselves requested, the cost of the medal will not be borne by the taxpayer, but rather by the veterans who receive it.”
