Computer Fundamentals

The College of Central Florida Levy Center is accepting enrollment for Computer Fundamentals I, which will be held Sept. 27 through Oct. 18. The four-week introductory class will meet on Mondays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The $89 fee includes the textbook.

The course introduces basic computer tasks using Windows. Students will get an overview of computer concepts and the basics of using Microsoft Windows. They will also be introduced to MS Word 2007 and will learn to create, edit, print documents and much more. The class will be taught using Windows XP. Information for Windows Vista users is included in the textbook.

The enrollment deadline is Monday, Sept. 20.

CNA Refresher course

The College of Central Florida Levy Center will begin a Refresher Course for Certified Nursing Assistants on Sept. 27. This 16-hour program is intended for nonpracticing Certified Nursing Assistants who would like to re-enter the field and CNAs who have allowed their license to lapse and need to retake the state licensure exam.

The class will meet Monday through Thursday, Sept. 27-30, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The course fee is $139 and no textbook is required.

The course consists of a pre-assessment testing and review of theory as well as a thorough review and practice of the core CNA skills. This course cannot be taken as a substitute for a regular CNA course and it is not an exam prep course.

The deadline for enrollment is Monday, Sept. 20.

Microsoft Office Course

The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer Fundamentals of MS Office 2007 on Tuesdays, Sept. 28 to Oct. 26, from 6 to 9 p.m.

This course is designed for those who want to gain new computer skills for the workplace. Through project-based lessons, students will learn the basic skills of the MS Office programs Word, Excel, Power Point and Access. The course fee of $109 includes the textbook. Students should bring a USB flash drive to class.

Students must have basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills in order to enroll. This course qualifies for Technical Business CPE credit for Florida Certified Public Accountants. Written proof of attendance will be supplied.

The enrollment deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Introduction to Geneology

The CF Levy Center is accepting enrollment for the Introduction to Genealogy course, which will be offered on Tuesdays, from 2 to 4 p.m., Sept. 21 to Oct. 12. The course fee is $49.

Participants will learn the basic principles of family history search and how to get started finding their ancestors. They will use the Internet and computer lab exercises to become familiar with online resources to find information on parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and possibly more. Students must have basic computer skills to enroll and should bring a USB flash drive to class.

Seating is limited. The enrollment deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 15.
