BRONSON - A search warrant served at a Fanning Springs residence on recently netted eight people suspected of drug crimes on April 2.
A subsequent raid in Chiefland on April 3 resulted in the arrest of another suspect, more cocaine, more cash and an assault rifle, according to Lt. Sullivan of the Levy County Sheriff's Office.
LCSO Lt. Scott Tummond obtained a search warrant for 17855 N.E. 71st Ave., Fanning Springs, Sullivan said, and it was served on April 2. Members of the LCSO Drug Task Force and Special Weapons And Tactics Team were utilized, because of the potential for violence against law enforcement officers, Sullivan said.
During the first operation, officers seized 40.8 grams of crack cocaine, 2.5 grams powder cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, $1,752 in cash, and two cars, Sullivan said.
With cocaine selling at approximately $100 a gram, Sullivan said, the street value of the drugs in Fanning Springs was about $4,200.
On April 3, LCSO Drug Force Commander Duane Dykstra led a team that executed a search warrant at 6750 N.W. 73rd Lane, Chiefland.
