Two men, one from Chiefland and another from Gainesville were arrested on drug charges in unrelated cases.
Melvin Alday, 76, of Chiefland was arrested by Levy County Drug Task Force Agent Jay Bolton on Dec. 2 and charged with the sale of 19.1 grams of Vicodin to a confidential source in August 2010, according to a Levy County Sheriff's press release. The quantity is large enough to charge Alday with trafficking. His bond is $ 50,000.
In the second arrest, Walter Alexander Burns, 39, of Gainesville was arrested for possession and sale of cocaine. Burns sold 0.6 grams of cocaine to a person working with authorities for $ 70, according to the press release.
Burns is a convicted felon with prior drug-related offenses. His bond is $ 30,000
