Bronson to feel out annexation
The Bronson council started out the year considering annexation of nearby Lake Johnson Estates after resident Robbie Blake brought it up at a meeting, saying it would give the Town of Bronson a bigger pool of resources to pull from and Lake Johnson Estates residents more say through town representation. The council at that meeting voted unanimously in favor of allowing talks to begin on the matter, though weeks before, some had expressed reservations on annexing the development.
By the next meeting, the issue, along with council member Berlon Weeks' assertion that town leadership was lacking amongst council members, had caused tempers to flare to the point that by the end of the meeting then-Mayor Beatrice Mongo, who later in the year married to become Beatrice Roberts, said she was disappointed in how council members were acting toward each other.
