Chiefland Citizen's top 15 local sporting events of the year

1The Chiefland High girls softball team enjoyed its best season ever, making it all the way to a Class 3A State Final 4 appearance in Plant City. Under the guidance of coach Wayne Weatherford, the Lady Indians won the district and region before bowing to Gulliver Prep in the state semifinals. The Lady Indians finished with an eye-opening record of 25-5. Senior pitcher Megan Weatherford was 21-4 and voted 3A Player of the Year. Coach Weatherford was runnerup for 3A Coach of the Year.
