On March 6th we spent the night at the Chiefland Best Western Hotel while on our way to Tarpon Springs. Being retired military, we always look for a VFW or American Legion. We found very nice and welcoming people at the VFW and thank them for a very enjoyable evening.
The next day, March 7, we started heading south, unfortunately our car died at the intersection by the high school. We put on our flashers, waved cars past us, etc. About two dozen cars went past up without even slowing down. A wonderful woman driving a pickup truck pulled up behind us, put her flashers on, got out and started directing traffic around us. She stayed with us until help arrived. We think her name is Taylor Schwartz, but not 100 percent sure on that. We'd like to thank her so much for stopping to help us.
We were able to call Scoggins Chevrolet. They had a flatbed truck there in less than five minutes and took our car to their facility. We left the car with Scoggins, got a rental car and continued our trip. We stayed in touch with Kevin Belfry and Cheri Horton on the status of our car which needed a new engine. We appreciate everything they did to get our car back running.
On March 18th, we drove back to Chiefland, checked into the Best Western Hotel to pick up our car on the 19th. The Best Western staff were very nice as the car wasn't quite ready and they let us do a late check out.
We'd also like to thank Enterprise for assisting us with the rental car. Again we'd like to thank everyone in Chiefland who helped us.
We really appreciate everything they did.
