Introduction to Interpretation class at CFCC Levy Center

The Central Florida Community College Levy Center will present Introduction to Interpretation, the final workshop in the Ecotourism Business Workshop series, on Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Interpretation is a communication process that forges emotional and intellectual connections between the audience and the inherent meanings in nature. By using the process, we help visitors find ways to personally connect to our area. The workshop will be of interest to anyone who has contact with visitors to the area, from fishing and other wildlife guides to those in the accommodations, food and retail businesses.

Workshop facilitator will be Refuge Ranger Pam Darty from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service who works at the Lower Suwannee and Cedar Key National Wildlife Refuge. Darty says this workshop “will be an introduction to interpreting the natural and cultural world. It’s perfect for Toastmaster speakers, speech students, those applying for Bright Futures Scholarships and many others.”

Upon completion of this workshop students will be granted free access to three National Park Service online classes offered through the Eppley Institute. For more information about the workshop, call Darty at 352-493-0238, ext. 223.

The course fee is $29 and must be paid in advance by noon, Thursday, Feb. 11. Enroll in person at the Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd, Chiefland; online at www.CFCCtraining.com; or by telephone at 352-493-9533.
