Ever try and stand up in front of a large audience and present a speech? The youth of Levy County have the opportunity to do just that.
The Tropicana Public Speaking Program for Levy County students culminated on Dec. 6 with the County School contest held at Bronson Middle/High School.
This contest is open to all students fifth through eighth grades. The contest begins in the classroom with students preparing and presenting a two-three minute speech. The classroom winners then proceed to compete with other classes in their school to come up with a school winner. The school winners then proceed to the county contest where all the schools come together to compete.
The Tropicana Company offers two divisions. The Elementary Division consists of all students in the fifth and sixth grades. The Middle Division consists of all students in the sixth grade.
The Levy County Board of County Commissioners also offers a division in the Public Speaking Program. The Intermediate Division is open to all students in the seventh and eighth grades.
