The city’s plans to expand Strickland Park to more than double its size have been put on hold after the state Legislature did not fund a grant program the city hoped to use for financing.
Mayor Teal Pomeroy said funding for Florida Forever was cut from the state budget preventing the city from even discussing purchasing the 41-acre Hardee property adjacent to the park.
