A Chiefland man is wanted for questioning about more than $2,200 that went missing from a McDonald's safe last week.

Forty-one-year-old Herbert W. Moss was a night shift manager at the restaurant working the night before the money was noticed missing, according to witness statements in a Chiefland Police report.

Police say video shows Moss "taking the deposit inside a bag from the safe, closing the safe, placing the deposit under his armpit, clocking out at the front register, and exiting the McDonald's with the deposit bag."

"He just disappeared," Chiefland Police Chief Robert Douglas said Tuesday afternoon. Moss hasn't been seen since Dec. 5.

Police tried to call Moss the next day and even went to his official Chiefland residence, which, according to the report, appeared to be abandoned.

A friend and co-worker who reportedly gave Moss a ride home to a Dixie County residence the night the theft occurred, said he showed up the next day to give Moss a ride to work, but Moss wasn't there.

If anyone has knowledge as to the whereabouts of Moss, officials with the Chiefland Police Department would like to know. They can be contacted at 352-493-6777
