The Levy County Sheriff's Office has won a safety award for having no “at-fault” accidents for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, one of only four that were awarded in the state.
The award was presented on March 7 by David Harvey, a retired sheriff who is executive director of the Florida Sheriff's Risk Management Fund, to Levy County Sheriff Bobby McCallum Jr. who accepted it on behalf of each employee of the Sheriff's Office.
As an agency with deputies and volunteers that are on the roads of Levy County for 24 hours a day, seven days a week every day of the year, this is an exceptional accomplishment, according to a sheriff's office press release.
