On Friday, Sept. 2, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office, together with Inglis and Chiefland police departments with equipment borrowed from the City of Williston, conducted a DUI checkpoint in Inglis as part of the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. This campaign was to reduce and eliminate impaired driving on our roadways.
During the three-hour road block, officers stopped 73 vehicles and issued 13 total citations — including one for having an open container.
