At the May 19 meeting of Levy County School Board, Superintendent Robert Hastings asked the board to suspend without pay Chiefland Elementary School Head Custodian Danny Clark for dishonesty, insubordination and non-performance of job duties until the next meeting, when he would recommend Clark's termination. At that time, Chiefland member Paige Brookins asked that the action be tabled until Tuesday's meeting to allow for review; her motion passed.
At Tuesday's meeting, Hastings returned with his request to suspend Clark without pay, and also asked that Chiefland High School ESE teacher Mark Lundy be suspended without pay, pending a hearing at the June 16 meeting. Lundy is accused of falsifying submissions on behalf of a student in the school's Novel Stars credit retrieval system.
Although the two cases were brought up together, Williston member Frank Etheridge told the board to consider them separately. Bronson board member Cameron Asbell moved to accept Clark's suspension and Cedar Key's Beth Davis seconded; the motion passed unanimously without discussion.
