David Maxwell Williams, 55, Southeast 55th Court, Inglis, probably wishes he had asked for a divorce a little differently.
According to a police report, Williams and his wife were sitting on the couch when he said they were going to get a divorce and she said she wanted to talk about it.
Williams then pushed her head down to the floor, but she got back up and sat next to him, according to the report. He pushed her to the floor again, this time on her back and held her down until she kicked him in order to get up, the report said.
Williams told the officer he was sitting on the couch when his wife said he did not care about her anymore and he pushed her back and she fell to the floor, the report says.
He's charged with domestic battery and bond is $3,500. He's also under court order to find another place to stay and to have no contact with his wife.
