The weather outlook for this holiday week is calling for rain through Wednesday with some clearning expected Wednesday night, something that may put fireworks lovers on pins and needles.

Levy County Emergency Management Director Mark Johnson said he has been in touch with the National Weather Service since early Monday because “a lot of stuff off the Southwestern Coast” of Florida looked worrisome. He said there's not much to worry about, except getting a predicted 3-4 inches of rain and some minor flooding this week.

“It's an upper level situation they are looking at that mimics a winter storm,” Johnson said. He said weather officials said it is not likely to become a tropical storm.

“And they said only in the amount of rainfall,” Johnson said. “We are on the outer edge of the heaviest rainfall.”

He said while flooding is predicted on some rivers, none is predicted for the Suwannee River.

Nonetheless, Johnson said his department is monitoring the situation for any issues.
