Lectures, hands on assignments prepare students for state test

By Lou Elliott Jones, Editor

Kay Walker Noda could not be more excited about being in Chiefland.

She sees this as an opportunity to share her knowledge with her new hometown.

Noda, sister of Chiefland Business Person of the Year Carol Tew, has opened Quest Training Center in downtown Chiefland to provide training for students to pass the state's certified nurse assistant (CNA) exam.

The business held its ribbon cutting in late October.

Passing the test is essential to gaining work in the fast growing field of retirement health care, whether in a retirement community or a nursing home setting. And as the Baby Boomer generation moves into retirement, swelling its ranks, demand for and employment for CNAs is going to grow.

The training center is located next to Big John's Plumbing Supply on Main Street. Inside the roomy, modern space, the school has four computer stations, three patient beds, a patient mannequin, a lecture area, a clinical test area and a break room.
