Detectives arrested David J. Morin, 31, of Dunnellon, April, 14, in connection with several commercial burglaries, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
The release said Morin was part of a group of people who broke into the Kwik King in Morriston at the beginning of March. Several thousand dollars worth of cigarettes and lottery tickets were stolen from the store. And thousands of dollars worth of damage to the store resulted from the break in. The store, along with a break in at Morris Junction BP Station, was broken into three times.
The sheriff's office organized a task force and started conducting stakeouts throughout the county. Detectives, noticing a pattern, said the break-ins took place Sunday through Thursday, between 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Similar break-ins happened in Marion and Citrus counties, detectives said.
Deputies in three counties developed a suspect vehicle, a 2011 Ford F-250, that matched a truck driven by Morin. Morin was pulled over in Marion County, and officers noticed a number of cigarette packs in the truck and decided to detain Morin.
