P.K. Yonge shocks Indians in district tournament

-A A +A
By Claude Lewis

FORT WHITE -This isn't the first time you read it, but baseball is a funny game, indeed.

In the Majors, Wild Card teams beat the Division champs in the playoffs.

In the best-of-one crap shoot otherwise known as FHSAA districts, teams that dominated during the regular season can see their seasons suddenly end with a shocking loss to a low seed.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at Fort White High, as Chiefland fell to P.K. Yonge, 2-0.

The Indians, ranked No. 8 in the state and the top seed in the Class 3A District 5, finish the season with a record of 18-4.
