Philip Parker, Florida Resource Manager for Plum Creek Timber Company, has been appointed to a three-year term on the board of the Levy County Schools Foundation. Parker's appointment was confirmed at the February Board of Directors Meeting.
"We are honored to have a person of Mr. Parker's knowledge and leadership abilities on our board as a director," says Bobbie Smith, past president and current Foundation board member. "Plum Creek's commitment to sustainable forestry in our primarily agricultural, rural county creates a great partner for us," Smith added. In 2007 the Levy County Schools Foundation was a recipient of a Plum Creek Grant awarded to Williston High School FFA horticultural program.
Parker oversees sustainable forestry operations including planting, harvesting, and fire prevention and fire fighting; mapping, inventory and environmental compliance for approximately 592,000 acres of Plum Creek forests in Florida.
Parker graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor of science degree in forest management, and is chairman of the Environmental Committee and on the Executive Board of the Florida Forestry Association.
