An Illinois man was arrested at a Chiefland Hotel Friday after witnesses told police he came out of his room naked and masterbated in front of children.
"This is a nightmare. I'm going to South America," the man, 55-year-old Mark Wayne Sarver, reportedly told police as he was placed into the back of a police cruiser.
Police, according to Sarver's arrest report, responded to the call on the matter that came from a worker at the Best Western hotel at about 2:30 p.m.
Employee Kathy Koren told police that a hotel guest, the grandmother of one of the children who had first seen a naked Sarver, had mentioned what he was doing, and, then, as she left the building to see what was going on, saw it for herself.
Sarver, who was arrested on two felony counts of lewd and lascivoius and two misdemeanor counts of exposing himself, was naked in the doorway of his room with "his hands on his penis in a jerking motion," Koren reportedly told police.
Koren yelled at Starver, but he only looked at her and continued to masterbate. She yelled at him again, and he went back into his room, shut the door and stared at her through his window.
Police were given a key to the room Sarver was in, according to the report. Three Chiefland police entered the room and found Sarver face down, naked, on the bed.
The man told police that he had become very hot at some point and had decided to take off his clothes, realizing moments later that the door to his room was open. Sarver said that he was in the process of shutting the door when he heard shouts coming from Koren.
Sarver, despite allegedly claiming to want to go South America, was taken to the Levy County jail where. His bail was reduced from $100,000 to $60,000 at a later bond hearing.
