Dear Levy County Residents,
It is with a heart full of gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity that you have given me over the past 3 plus years, that I hereby announce my intention to seek re-election as Your Levy County Property Appraiser. I am truly grateful and humbled that you chose to elect me to serve you, the residents of this wonderful County, in this position of leadership.
I want to acknowledge and thank the awesome staff that I have been blessed to have worked with. They are James Allen, Melinda Jelks, Lisa Shipp, Jason Whistler, Brian Jones, Al Hardee, Helen Addison, Patricia Potter, David Smith & Randy Rutter. Also thanks to the recently retired Gary Ward, Brenda Durrance and Lynn Legrand. Thank you all for your dedication and willingness to adjust, change and accept the focus that my leadership brought into the Property Appraiser’s Office and for serving the people of Levy County with respectful and professional attitudes.
We will continue to have a multitude of legislative changes that affect how we are mandated to serve our property owners, but you can be sure that under my leadership, your Property Appraiser’s office will be consistent, fair and capable of providing professional service. I will continue to always use the discretion given to me in a manner which best serves the taxpayers of Levy County.
We, your staff, at the property Appraiser’s office, will continue to keep up with the changes in law, technology and the real estate market. We are always looking for ways to better serve you in all of these areas and greatly appreciate your comments and suggestions.
I am very conservative fiscally and believe that government has gotten way to big. Since taking office in 2009, I have worked hard to cut the cost of doing business in the Appraisers Office and have successfully cut the operating budget by over 21%.
While seeking to be elected as Your Property Appraiser my campaign slogan was, “Making a Difference”. That focus has not changed. I still have that God given desire in my heart to make a positive difference in the Property Appraisers office, the Levy County Court House and in the community of Levy County. There is a passage of scripture in God’s word that sums up how I feel about serving in the position of leadership which I have been entrusted with, Luke 12: 48 For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. I am accountable to God first and then to you who have entrusted me to serve the residents of Levy County.
In closing, I want to give all praise, honor and glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because he is worthy to be praised.
Thanks and God Bless,
Osborn “Oz” Barker
