Eva Ruth Mayo, longtime Bronson resident, will be honored by family and friends at an open house to celebrate her 80th birthday. The party is on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 2-5 p.m. at the Bronson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Friends are invited to stop by and share in the joy of this occasion.
Mayo was born on August 2, 1931, in Kingsport, Tenn., where she lived until moving to Florida in 1952. She came to Bronson in the autumn of 1966. She married the late William Mayo in January, 1952. He passed away in 1994. They had four children: Michael (Lynette) Mayo, Raleigh, NC, The Rev. Billy (Karen) Mayo, Chiefland, Ruth Ann (Tommy) Thomas, Gainesville, and Melody (Roberto) Irizarry, Bronson. There are seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She has always been a full-time homemaker and has been an active member of Bronson United Methodist Church for 45 years, serving on committees and in leadership capacities. Mayo has lived in her home on the corner of Main and Court Street for over 40 years.
