A Kentucky man died and his passenger was injured when the 2003 Subaru Outback they were riding in on U.S. Highway 27A veered off the road by Northesast 151st Terrace at 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.
Dead is David G. House, 81, of Avaton, Ky., the driver, and injured was Betty G. House, 80, also of Avaton, Ky. She was airlifted to Shands Hospital at the University of Florida and was reported in critical condition.
The Subaru was headed north in the right lane when it went off the east side of the road and a side mirror struck a utility pole. The vehicle continued on with the right front side striking a fence post and causing the vehicle to roll over on the driver's side. It continued travelling until it came to rest against a tree. Levy County Fire and Rescue Lt. Page Hiers pronounced David House dead at the scene.
Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident and alcohol is not considered a factor in the case.
