Bruce and Betty Nowlin celebrated their Golden Anniversary Friday, Dec. 7

Making Chiefland their home in 1979, the couple has enjoyed the many friends, neighbors and business locals who have befriended them for the past 28 years.

Mr. Nowlin is a retired safety counselor and publisher of State Safety League Publications. He continues to enjoy his daily ritual of maintaining his organic garden and "keeping up with the roosters", and his "buddy boy" Barney.

Mrs. Nowlin, who for many years ran their locally owned business, The Manatee Shirt Shop, still enjoys preparing home-cooked meals for her "king" and reading a good book.

Although scattered throughout the United States, their extensive family includes Betty's sisters, brother-in-laws, daughter-in-laws, son-in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren.

In addition, the couple celebrates the love of their seven children, Steven, Susan, Kerry, Mike, Pam, John and Bob.
