The Chiefland City Commission voted 3-1 Monday night to accept a bid that may save the city thousands of dollars in insurance costs.
According to a city report, only two companies, Florida League of Cities and Don Martin Insurance/Brown and Brown Insurance, responded to the city's invitation to bid on city property, liability and workers compensation insurance.
Florida League of Cities, which offers a rate of $11,482.66 cheaper than their local competitor, was chosen as the new insurance provider.
