To the editor:
It’s a new year and what a wonderful time for change.
In the Tri County area prior to, during and after the 2008 primary and general elections, one of the most vocal and frequent complaints was the plethora of campaign signs of support of presidential down to local candidates. Signs were in the median strips and right of ways of our highways. Signs were on private property, vacant land, fence lines, billboards and crossroads. They were invading from everywhere. All space available found supporters planting a sign in support or opposition to someone or something. The entire episode gave birth to a new disease called Election Eye Pollution. (EEP)
Many of these signs were weather worn, blown over, obstructive, obnoxious, illegal and ugly. Last year I observed that most of the campaign signs posted illegally were supporting candidates for sheriff.
