National Night Out in Chiefland

-A A +A

The College of Central Florida, Chiefland Police Department and the Chiefland Chamber of Commerce are looking for businesses and civic organizations to participate in this year's National Night Out on Aug. 2 from 6-8 p.m. on the grounds of the Chiefland Chamber of Commerce. National Night Out brings neighbors together and shows criminals that the community is organized, educate and is taking a stand against crime.
The groups are in the planning stages for what they hope will become an annual event.      The event is aimed at children under 16. Each child will be given a card to take to each safety or education display/activity. The participating organization will stamp the card after the child has participated in the demonstration or activity.
After visiting each vendor, the child will return with the stamped card to the finish line for a free package of giveaways and hopefully some "cool" refreshments.
What is needed:
• Participating businesses and organizations
• Volunteers
• Displays and fun activities that promote safety and education
• Treats of all kinds for children and their parents
Interested businesses and organizations are invited to attend a planning meeting at 5:30 p.m. on July 7 at the College of Central Florida, Levy Center. For more information, contact Kat Davis or Marilyn Ladner at 352-493-9533.
