A new $2,000 annual scholarship is scheduled for presentation to a Chiefland High School graduate this year and every year.

A spokesman for Chiefland NAPA said the company is proud to announce the creation of the Chiefland NAPA Automotive Technologies Scholarship Program.

The scholarship will be administered by the Levy County Schools Foundation. The Levy County Schools Foundation was established in 1989 out of an independent project to secure a grant to improve the auditorium at Chiefland High School. The Foundation formed as a not-for-profit corporation. It expanded the ability of local businesses, community groups and individuals to provide scholarships and fund special programs for Levy County students.

The criteria for selection as the recipient shows all qualified applicants must be a graduating CHS Senior with a grade point average of at least 3.0 and must enroll in a college-level or an ASE/NATEF certified automotive technical program. A 250-word essay on why the student believes he or she deserves to be a recipient must be submitted with application.

Applicants may include video or photo documentation of automotive-related projects or experience representing their skills and knowledge.

Chiefland NAPA owner Tom Crittenden made this scholarship possible.

For more information, applicants are asked to contact the CHS Guidance Department at (352) 493-6000.
