A naked, drunk man in a van was arrested last week near Rosewood on State Road 24, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office report.
LCSO Deputy Britton Drew was responding to a call in reference to a reckless driver who was first reported driving a dark colored van down U.S. Highway 19, near Usher Tower. Drew later later observed the vehicle pulled over on the shoulder of S.R. 24. The driver, Kelly Michael Bachmeier, of New Port Richey, would not get out of the van, the report stated. He continued to act suspicious and refused to show his hands. Drew requested backup due to Bachmeier's behavior.
When backup arrived, Bachmeier still refused to cooperate, the report stated. Deputies shot him with a Taser gun, fearing he might have a weapon.
He was arrested for driving under the influence and an expired North Dakota driver's license. Bachmeier blew more than four times the legal limit (.334 and .315) on the intoxilyzer and was transported to the Tri- County Hospital with a blood alcohol limit of .390.
