Congratulations are in order for the men and women who make up the Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force.
In the past month the task force has been able to bring about the arrests of dozens of alleged drug dealers. Many of those arrests came on the heels of investigations that lasted months and required countless man hours and dedication.
We also tip our hats to the Chiefland City Commission for having the foresight to set aside money in its budget that allows the city to be a member of the task force.
Because of the commission's willingness to look ahead and value its people more than money, Police Chief Robert Douglas said with pride Monday night that his officers are seeing less and less drug activity in Chiefland.
Part of that reason must be because those who are preying on society with their illegal drugs, like crack, know that if you're dealing in Chiefland sooner or later you will be caught. It's just a matter of time before they come for you.
Good work, Drug Task Force. Here's looking to a drug-free community that just may be on the horizon.
