Memorial Day observances

There will be three Memorial Day observances in Levy County that have been organized by various veterans groups. 

Two will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. — in Williston and Cedar Key. The third will be at 1 p.m. in Bronson.

The Williston observance will be at Orange Hill Cemetery, 1869 N.E. 180th Ave.,  and is organized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. 

The Cedar Key ceremony will be held at the Cedar Key Cemetery on Gulf Boulevard in Cedar Key. The event, like the one in Bronson, is organized by veterans activist Ivan Chubb. The Tri-County Marine Corps League Detachment 1018 will be participating in the event. The speaker will be City Commissioner Sue Colson. 

The Bronson ceremony will have an honor guard from VFW Post 5625 in Chiefland and participation by AMVETS Post No. 88 of Bronson. The speaker will be City Commissioner Berlon Weeks and the invocation will be given by City Commissioner Aaron Edmundson.
