The Chiefland Police Department is on a campaign to introduce its officers — to the folks who go over 15 mph in the school zones. Of course, the introductions will cost the drivers dearly. A ticket for going 10 mph over the limit will cost $303 and a ticket for doing 15 mph over the limit will cost $403.
Officer Alton Horne said officers will be in place between 7 and 8 a.m. and 2:20 and 3 p.m. to make sure traffic slows down. Horne said he will be on duty at the Chiefland High School zone between U.S. Highways 27A and 19 and where both meet U.S. 129.
For the folks who are going 15 mph, they can just honk at Horne as they glide by.
