Manatee Springs to host National Public Lands Day

-A A +A

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Manatee Springs State Park will host a river clean-up along the Suwannee River Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The clean-up will start at Clay Landing Boat ramp and end at Usher Landing.

Volunteers in every state will visit parks, public and community gardens, beaches, wildlife preserves or forests and chip in to help these treasured places that belong to all Americans. They will improve and restore the lands and facilities the public uses for recreation, education, exercise and connecting with nature.  Please dress appropriate for weather conditions and don’t forget to bring bug repellent.  Water and light refreshments will be served on site by our Citizen Support Organization.

Volunteers can join in on land or by water, bring your kayak/canoe or motorized vessel or clean up the river banks on foot and enjoy a day of helping protect one of Florida’s natural treasures.

For more information, visit www.FloridaStateParks.org.  There is no fee for this event.
