The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Manatee Springs State Park will host a variety of featured guests throughout the month of January.
January is known as Manatee Awareness Month. With the cooler weather, the featured guests will be the manatees, along with partners in manatee protection awareness, education and enforcement.
Each Saturday in January, experts will give educational programs on these gentle giants. Such guests will be the Save the Manatee Club, the U.S. Geological Service’s Sirenia Project, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and various ranger-led programs.
Activities for each Saturday program are free with a paid park admission in January. For more information please call the park at (352) 493-6072. For more info, visit www.floridastateparks.org.
