Man critical after scooter accident

John C. Houghtaling, 76, of Bronson was injured and in critical condition at Shands Hospital in Gainesville on Monday, Feb. 25, after his 1990 Honda scooter left County Road 337, headed down the shoulder, overturned and skidded a few feet. 

Houghtaling, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was thrown from the scooter as it skidded. 

Trooper Glen Ganus investigated the accident and no charges were filed at the time of the mishap.
