Man charged in truck theft

Brian Lloyd Sutherland, 47,  is charged with grand theft auto in connection with the theft of a 1995 white Dodge Dakota truck  from a Williston residence on March 8, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
Sheriff's Deputy Scott Stancil tracked footprints from the victim's home to Sutherland's residence, but Sutherland denied being involved.
Stancil was joined by Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Narayan in the investigation. The two followed up on a tip that Sutherland had been spotted in the truck at a business and checked the store video. Sutherland was recorded in the truck in the store parking lot, according to the release.
When the two officers returned to Sutherland's home they found him walking down the road. He admitted to the officers he stole the truck, went to a local store to buy alcohol and parked the stolen truck in the woods.
