Mack McCain dies at 69

Mack McCain of Cedar Key died Oct. 3 in Gainesville. He was 69.

Bornand raised in Cedar Key, Mack was the owner and operator of McCain Construction in Cedar Key for many years. He also worked for Gulf State Steel as an ironworker. He was a Baptist. Mack enjoyed working on equipment, and most of all loved being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Thelma McCain, four sons James (Kathy), Kenny (Rose), Harold and Gilbert (Mary), one daughter Gayle Locke (Louie), one sister Bobbie Mae Smith, one stepsister Helen Berry, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Key Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Watson and the Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Key Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6- 8 p.m. Monday evening at Knauff Funeral Home, Chiefland.
