Lady Indians head to state softball finals! Win 3-2 against Dixie.

UPDATE: The Chiefland Lady Indians won the regional final 3-2 against Dixie County's Lady Bears and are headed to the state finals.

The win is a sweet one for the Chiefland team after losing to the Lady Bears three times during the season. For the Dixie team, itbroke their 21-game winning streak this year.

The state semifinals are scheduled for Friday, May 9, in Vero Beach.

After two rain delays and trips back and forth to Volusia County the Chiefland Lady Indians softball team was ready to play on Thursday.

And they are getting ready to play the Dixie County Lady Bears for the fourth time this softball season for the regional title at 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Dixie County High School at Cross City. Afyer three losses, the fourth game may be the charm for the Lady Indians. 

The Lady Bears are 22-0 for the season.  The Lady Indians were 3-4 in 1A District 7 play and 15-5 for the regular season. The Lady Indians lost to the Lady Bears 12-1 on March 13, 6-4 on April 1, and 6-0 on April 17. The Lady Indians came in second in 1A District 7 play after defeating Union County on April 15. 

Chiefland trounced Taylor Pierson 6-0 in the Region 4 semifinals on Thursday at T. DeWitt Taylor Middle/High School in Volusia County. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, but was rescheduled after rain forced a postponement that day and again on Wednesday. 

Dixie County, the 1A District 7 champs, defeated Crescent City 4-1 in their regional semifinal game.
