Facing a 6-2 deficit, the Chiefland softball team poured on five runs in the third inning and then eight in the fourth en route to a 16-6 win against Dixie County last Thursday.
The Lady Indians trailed despite getting a solo home run from Lauren Parker in the opening inning and doubles by Emily Hallman and Macie Thomas over the first pair of frames.
Parker, who started in the circle for the first time for Chiefland, kicked off the third-inning rally with a lead-off single in the third, followed by base hits from Hallman, Takiya London, Sydney Parks and Karlie Meeks. Thomas doubled again in the inning, while Samantha Rolfe (three walks) and Erika Gilliam collected walks.
The Indians batted around again in the fourth as they tacked on five walks to go along with more hits by Hallman, London, Gilliam and Thomas.
Thomas went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs, two doubles and two runs scored. Hallman was 3 for 4 while London (three runs), Parker (three runs) and Parks also enjoyed multi-hit nights.
Parker allowed a pair of earned runs and struck out two in three innings. Junior Taylor Simpson and sophomore Kensley Durrance each added an inning in the circle.
