One person was airlifted and another was transported to Shands Hospital at UF Health following a Friday July 18 wreck involving three vehicles on U.S. Highway 27A south of Bronson.

Frederick Anthony Roech, 43, of Bronson was airlifted with serious injuries, while the passenger in his vehicle, Kimberly Dawn Moore, 39, of Bronson, was transported due to minor injuries.

Roech was driving a 1998 Ford F150 southbound in the outside land of U.S. 27A when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 1994 Chevy S10 driven by George Kenneth Elwood, 29, of Williston near Northeast 101st Court, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report by Trooper M. Velez.

Roech's vehicle rotated onto the grassy shoulder where it overturned and same to a stop overturned in the wooded area.

The front left of Elwood's vehicle then collided with the right front of a 2003 Dodge van in the inside lane that was driven by David Lynn Brown, 66, of Bronson. Brown's van was forced onto the median where it came to a stop.

Elwood left the scene and was brought back by a Levy County deputy.

Roech was not using a seatbelt at the time, although Moore, Brown and Elwood were wearing seatbelts.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, including the results of a blood alcohol test on Roech.
