Joyce Bullock and Chiefland Elementary celebrate ARBOR DAY

-A A +A

The Levy Soil and Water Conservation District Education Coordinator, Dana Langford, accompanied by the Florida Division of Forestry Representative, Sara Creel, visited Lindsey Legler’s 2nd grade class at Joyce Bullock Elementary and Melanie Quincey’s Pre K class at Chiefland Elementary to plant trees in honor of Arbor Day.  The students were taught the anatomy of the tree, leaves, branches, trunks and roots and how to care for their new tree.  The type of tree planted on campus is a Shumard Oak purchased from AK Nursery of Cross City.  The students took a turn digging the hole and covering the roots and mulching.
