Lived through the Great Depression

Jack Ray Griffin, 97, died Jan. 4, 2012.
He was born Dec. 24, 1914, near Grove Hill, Ala.
He survived the Great Depression and became surveyor and crew leader in the Civilian Conservation Corps, Camp No. 1416 in Holmes County from 1933-1935.  He served in WW II, enlisting in Florida on Nov. 3, 1942 as private, Topographic Draftsman 070 in HQ-331 Station Compliment Squadron in the 9th US Army Air Force.
