BRONSON –The Chiefland High boys basketball team had a dress rehearsal for the 2007-08 season last Thursday and Friday in the Bronson Preseason Tipoff Tournament.
Since the games are preseason, they don't count towards the won-loss record.
Indian hoop fans, players and coaches are down with that, as CHS dropped both tilts at the Bronson High gym.
On Thursday, the Indians were edged by Taylor County, 43-39. On the next night, the Indians played with more intensity against a tough Madison County squad, but a cold-shooting second half spelled a 45-35 setback.
"It was like night and day,"said first-year varsity coach Mark Lundy. "We played a lot more as a unit (Friday). We were more cohesive. We did a better job rebounding."
Chiefland used a solid second quarter to outscore Madison 12-6 to take a 19-16 lead into the halftime locker room. A three-point goal by Marquis Jackson gave the Indians a 17-16 lead.
Jackson, a guard, led all scorers with 17 points.
While Lundy was pleased with Jackson's effort, he would have liked to have seen more scoring come from the front line.
