The Chiefland High boys varsity basketball team got off to a decent start under energetic new coach Mark Lundy, but the Indians have hit a rough spot, losing their four most recent outings.
A tough schedule –in particular a deep district–seems to have caught up with the Indians.
Overall, Chiefland is 4-6. In Class 3A District 5, they are 1-4. Three of those have come to very good teams ? P.K. Yonge, Williston and Newberry.
Yonge was ranked fourth in 3A in the first Beef O'Brady's rankings of the season. That was before the Blue Streaks were surprised by Williston. So one has to figure the Red Devils should be ranked, too. And Newberry isn't far behind those two.
The Chiefland boys will regroup before their next action Dec. 27-29 in the Bronson Christmas Tournament.

It's early in the season, but people are already talking about the best players in the state by class.
Some Web sites even rate the top freshmen in the state.
